Give a Cat a Forever Home

ADOPT A Cat

Adopting from FMCA means giving a cat a permanent, loving home and creating space for another vulnerable animal to enter our care. As a foster-based rescue, every adoption directly expands our capacity to help more animals in need.

AVAILABLE FOR ADoption

FMCA cats and kittens come in all ages, personalities, and backgrounds. From playful young kittens to calm, affectionate adults, there is likely a match for your home and lifestyle. All animals in our program have received veterinary care and are prepared for the transition to a permanent family.

Don’t see a perfect match? Email info@fmca.org to learn about additional cats and kittens currently in foster care and still making their way through the vetting process.

A Thoughtful Process for a Lifetime Match

Adoption Requirements

To ensure the best possible match for both the animal and the adopter, all applicants must meet the following requirements before an adoption can be finalized.

  • All applicants must be 21 years of age or older

  • A completed application is required for all adoptions

  • All adults in the household must provide a valid driver's license or other form of ID

  • Applications include residency and veterinary reference verification

  • A virtual interview or home visit is required prior to approval

We Are With You Every Step of the Way

How the Process Works

The first step is completing an adoption application through our ShelterLuv portal. If you do not have a specific cat in mind, you can describe what you are looking for, such as an adult female, a pair of kittens, or simply that you are open to suggestions, and we will work with you to find the right match from cats currently available or still in foster care.

Once your application is fully approved and a match is identified, we will coordinate the transfer. All of our animals go home on a trial basis so we can ensure it’s truly the right fit for both the cat and the adopter. After a 2–3 week adjustment period, once everyone is comfortable and confident, we finalize the adoption and make it official. Because FMCA is an all-volunteer organization with most members working full-time, please allow a few days to hear from us after submitting your application.
